Comments:

I left Laurinburg with Daniel Construction and moved to Mississippi where I married an Air Force pilot and traveled quite a bit for a few years (even spending two years in Saudi Arabia). We had a son, Jeff, who is now an intern for Fox news here in Vegas and working on a degree in TV Communications. The marriage lasted 14 years and countless moves.

I finished my degree at UNLV in 1992 (Journalism) and started work as a tech writer for Lockheed. It's difficult to live in Las Vegas without working somewhere in gaming so I ended up as a tech writer for a gaming company and met my current husband, Thomas, an electrical engineer.

We own a small gaming company here in Vegas. Our website is www.bluecubemicroworks.com and we can be found on Facebook. We build platforms for gaming machines and are looking to retire in the next few years and move someplace with trees and rain.

I did my Master's a few years ago in Library Science and worked for the Clark County Library district for a short time until my husband decided he needed help at "the Works."

I look forward to retirement and having the time to write what I want to write. I have been working on a couple of novels for several years and have a life goal of finishing and publishing a novel. One of my short stories, The Snake Stomper, won the NOW award for fiction in 1992. It was a humorous story with a feminist theme and the main character was based on Juice Harris. Some of you might remember him because of a local newspaper article about his propensity for stomping snakes to death.

I have never regretted leaving and cherish the memories of my travels but the south and my childhood environment is a factor in almost everything I write. We have a lot of characters in Vegas but not many people with character. I learned a lot about how to be a decent human being from being raised in a small town in the South.
